Space shuttle Endeavour launched Monday, May 16, 2011

General Information , Treasure Coast , Vero Beach , Vero Lago No Comments »

There were some great views to be had this morning by many residents along the East coast of Florida today.  The space shuttle Endeavour and its crew of six astronauts launched today (Monday, May 16, 2011), at 8:56 a.m. on a mission to the International Space Station.  This will be the last mission of Endeavour. Endeavour carried the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer and a pallet loaded with spare parts to the International Space Station during a 16-day mission. The AMS is a cutting-edge physics experiment designed to look for anti-matter in the cosmos and perhaps unlock the mystery of what makes up most of the mass in the universe.

Space Shuttle Endeavour

Residents in our Vero Lago new home community had a very good view of the launch since they are about 50 miles from Cape Canaveral.
