Computer Classes for Beginners at the Parkland, FL Library - September 14, 16, 21, 23, and 28

If you are just learning to use a computer or need to brush up on the basics, the Parkland Library has a series of computer basic classes that are just for you. Meeting at 5:30 PM for five nights in September, the series covers everything a beginner needs to know, including the internet and email.

Class dates: September 14, 16, 21, 23, and 28. Email library@cityofparkland.org, call (954) 757-4200 or come by the Library to register for one class or all five.

14th Annual Dunn's Run Benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County
On Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

It's a tough time to be a kid. There are pressures of peers, drugs, gangs, broken homes and overcrowding and the disadvantages circumstances of poor education, low income, unemployment, poor homes where love and attention are lacking. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, there is a place a child can go to get away. Away from those pressures and temptations. A place for some fun and companionship or just to hang out. And more often than not, once a child becomes a member, their life is positively changed forever.

The purpose is to help young people ages 7-17 improve their lives by building self-esteem and developing values and skills during their critical period of growth. Services and programs provided focus on everything from education, social recreation, health and physical education, to leadership and citizenship development, cultural enrichment, and personal adjustment with one-on-one counseling. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County also gives an The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs is to assure and to enhance the quality of life for children as participating members of a diverse urban society.

About the Race

New course to start at the beach and end at the beach! All runners and walkers will start the race on AIA and trek alongside the beautiful Deerfield Beach through the city back to the same beach side location.  This will allow all of your family and friends to cheer you on from start until finish! This event is fun for everyone regardless of ability weather you choose to run or walk.

If you raise raise $100 you will receive a Dri-Fit Running Shirt.

If you raise $500 you will be giving the choice of receiving a Garmin Forerunner 110 running or a Philip Stein Fruitz watch from JR Dunn which is one of "Oprah's Favorite Things" which has been seen in Vogue, In Style, The Today Show & So much more.

Bark at the Park 2 October 1st 2010 with the Florida Marlins

Bring your dog to watch the Florida Marlins battle the Pirates on on Friday, October1st at 7:10pm at Sun Life Stadium. Tickets are only $12 for Adults, $6 for Kids (12 and under) and $6 for Dogs. 100% of the proceeds from the dog tickets goes toward helping all the animals at the humane society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet!

Vero Beach July 4th Fireworks at Riverside Park, 9pm.

There will be more than just fireworks during this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Vero Beach.

The Independence Day celebration will start several hours before the 9pm Firworks show.  Starting at 3:30 p.m. July 4 at Riverside Park in Vero Beach. A free family-orientated celebration will include wet and dry slides, face painting, a DJ and more. Various food and drinks also will be available. All participating vendors have agreed to donate 15 percent of the event’s proceeds to the Vero Beach Recreation Department.

The annual fireworks display will follow the daytime events lighting up the skies at 9 p.m.
